The Fifth Annual "Avon Breast Cancer Crusade" Walk

At Vasilyevsky Spusk in Moscow, the Fifth Annual “Avon Breast Cancer Crusade” Walk was held under the motto “Join us and fight!”. The Walk coinciding with the company’s 125th anniversary, raised about ten million rubles which will be allocated to solve critical problems in the fight against breast cancer.

Before the Walk at Vasilyevsky Spusk there was a unique event. A “START-mob”, of four and a half thousand people joined together to form a gigantic pink ribbon, the world recognized symbol of the fight against breast cancer. Over three thousand people took part in the walk along the central streets and riverbanks of Moscow, marching across the city waving banners bearing the motto «Fight for your life!» in the air

The Fifth Annual Avon Charity Walk was supported by leading medical experts, public officers, representatives of the State Duma of the RF and the Public Health Department of Moscow.

On the Fifth Charity Walk, about 300 women consulted doctors on matters of breast health. Thanks to the support of the partners of the 2011Walk, Siemens, Sanofi-Aventis and Johnson&Johnson, the number of medical experts participating in the event greatly increased. This meant more visitors could be examined and, for the first time in the history of the Walk, an ultrasound examination featuring Siemens equipment was available to the participants.

Valeriya, Dmitriy Malikov, Pelageya and Sergey Lazarev headlined the festival, which followed the Walk. The bands Gorod 312, Gradusy, Blondrock and celebrities Alexander Peskov, Viktoriya Lopyreva, Masha Tsigal, Kseniya Borodina and many others also participated in the event.
