Day of the Financier 2011

On September 8th, the Day of the Financier was officially celebrated for the first time in Russia. This professional holiday of the Russian financial community takes place on the anniversary of Emperor Alexander the First’s signing of the Highest Manifesto, which established the Ministry of Finance on September 8th, 1802. This year, the Russian financial system celebrates 209 years. The program of events was developed with support from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and the Expert group on financial education at FSFR of Russia, Department of Education of Moscow.

On the Day of the Financier, Edward Bace, Director of the Education of the CFA Institute, visited Moscow. Mr. Bace participated in a festive reception, which took place in the Big Academic hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and handed over the “Recognition of the Year” award for “Most Quoted Financial Analyst of 2011” nomination. The prize went to head of analytical service IT invest-PROSPEKT, Alexander Potavin, who was chosen following the results of the research provided by “Medialogiya”. 

The  CFA association (Russia) also acted as the official partner of the All-Russia “Day of Financial Literacy at Schools and High Schools.” More than 20 experts of CFA Association (Russia), representatives of leading international and Russian financial, investment and auditor companies, bank groups and rating agencies among which were VTB-CAPITAL, Sberbank, Gazprombank, Deutsche Bank, Rusal, conducted lectures and seminars in non-financial high schools (GUU, MiSIS, RGGU and others) and Moscow schools.

“In the modern world there is a sharp demand for competent experts in the financial industry. Also, the holiday is intended to emphasize their importance in the modern world. One of the primary goals of the CFA Institute  is to increase the level of financial education and promote the standards of ethical behaviour in the financial market. We closely cooperate with 137 educational institutions, 47 of which are business schools and universities of the EMEA region, and we are proud that more than 20 professionals from CFA Association (Russia) took part in the All-Russia «Day of Financial Literacy», said Edward Bace.
