Elections for the chairmanship of AKOS (The Russian Communications Consultancies Association) have taken place for the following two-year term. From April 1, 2012 Andrey Barannikov, General Director of SPN Ogilvy will become the chairman of the Association. Elena Fadeeva, General Director of Fleishman-Hillard Vanguard, who has been the Association’s chairman for the previous four years, will become Honorary Chairman of AKOS in recognition of the Association’s development and successful activity from 2008-2012.
Over the last four years the accounts of Association members have grown by 50%. A number of initiatives to develop a highly professional, transparent and effective PR industry in Russia have been realized, as well as activities to establish high ethical standards and the development of PR education. A number of branch regulating documents have been developed, which include: An AKOS memorandum on the tendering process of PR services, a memorandum on methods of PR activity quality assessment (KPI), the classification of types of PR activity in Russia, the list of PR services in Russia and a memorandum of pricing in the PR sphere. AKOS educational courses and programs in a number of the Russian higher schools have been launched.

The Russian Communications Consultancies Association (АКОS) was founded in 1999 as a fundamentally new type of union for the Russian public relations market and has united the most respected and reliable independent players in Russian PR. At the moment AKOS consolidates 31 first-rate Russian PR-consultancies, whose common market share exceeds 60 %.
AKOS is the Russian division of The International Communications Consultancy Organization (ICCO). Founded in 1988, ICCO comprises national trade associations in twenty-eight countries. Collectively, these associations represent over 1,400 PR firms.
